The Role Area Rugs Play In Feng Shui and Interior Design

Feng Shui is a popular Chinese practice where the positive and negative energies are analyzed through the positioning of objects. There is a particular place for everything in order to attract the good energy and to bring fortune, luck, good health, love and protection, among many others. Clutter is a big no-no as Feng Shui emphasizes that it blocks the flow of energy or chi in the room. Balance is also prioritized to have the yin and yang.

Feng Shui puts an importance to the placement of things. Opening up the space is for energy flow, also known as chi. Blocks or obstructions are bad luck because in the same way, they block the positive chi.

Area rugs, no matter how pretty and valuable, are no exceptions from the rules of Feng Shui. Their placement on the floor gives off a certain energy that reflects on the chi and thus, gives corresponding results from their arrangement.

The color too greatly influences the Feng Shui of a room. Colors are believed to dictate the mood. Thus, the colors of an area rug also contribute to the positive or negative mood. An over supply of soft colors can be too relaxing while a monopoly of bold colors can give tension to the room.

For creating a positive energy, the right texture of an area rug can somehow influence the chi. A hard floor can be balanced out by a soft, thick rug. It will also make the room more inviting.

One of the biggest factors on the chi of a room is how much a person enjoys being in it. The energy that a person both gives off and takes while in a room will set the mood of that room. Having a healthy chi means having a room which accepts people into its space without much struggle. The area rug may be one of the quickest means of doing so.

Use your imagination and try to visualize how your room will look. Having a good idea in your mind's eye will help once you are facing a sea of beautiful rugs.
Price is not something to worry about. The range of prices is wide from super cheap to exorbitant. Paying a high price for an area rug is not bad at all. It is an investment and the quality guarantees longevity. On the other hand, if you prefer to spend reasonably, you are sure to find one that meets a specific budget you have.
Decide on the size that best suits your room. Will you be using more than one area rug in a large room or is your room small and cozy. If you are decorating a bedroom it is better to use a couple smaller area rugs than one huge one that will have a huge area hidden under the bed. The area under the bed is always dark and could in time attract moths.
If you are placing your rug to anchor furniture groupings, the furniture should be set on the rug or its border. If the room is big enough, leave at least a foot of space all around the perimeter. Do not put just one piece of furniture on the rug or it will look like an afterthought rather than the glue that unites your arrangements.
If you want an area rug to improve the flooring, the rug should be able to carry the responsibility. Choose a tone on tone or a solid color so that it will blend with the floor and enhance its appearance.
On the other hand, if you want to disguise the floor and focus on the area rug, you should make it as "loud" as it can be to catch attention. Big patterns and bold colors work best. If the pieces of furniture have subtle colors, then the more a rich, bright colored rug can do its job as the superstar of the room.
When your objective is to draw attention away from the floor, choose an area rug that has vibrant color and pronounced design that is overall. Using this kind of color and pattern will make this the focal point of the room drawing the viewer's attention directly to it. If the furniture surrounding the rug has a muted pattern or a plain neutral color this will be even a stronger focal point.
Before buying the rugs of your choice, consider all these points and you can be certain that you will be paying for the perfect area rugs for your home.

Benefits of Home Decorating with Area Rugs

If you are someone whom didn't understand area rugs and their benefits, you will now. Adding an area run in a specific room will add more colors along with a reflection of your personal style. Area rugs are always a great choice when choosing decor for a rooms design.

Because we are primarily visual creatures, the beauty of an area rug has to be considered an important benefit of a purchase. They convey an owner's preference and personality through these gorgeous pieces of art. Neutral colors can indicate a person who is organized and wants clean lines and colors in their home. Neutral colors are also the easiest because the pieces are easily transferred to other rooms or correspond to any changes in color schemes. A brightly colored or whimsical piece would be perfect in the home of an artistic individual: the need to draw attention is the same. There are so many options in styles, brands, colors and fabric. Rugs can help to identify a room's mood whether it is conservative, playful, or neutral.

If it's a room which is traveled frequently you would want something which is soft on the feet rather than something which is rough to the touch. Adding an area rug to a room will protect the floor underneath to a certain degree in busy rooms. Placing a rug in front of the fireplace would be very romantic when it's lit on a cold winter's night.

Not only will it add a bit of color to a room, but the beauty of some of those is fantastic, adding a bit of extra pleasure to the room. Check into one of those Persian rugs that will add luxury to the room. A great place for that Persian is sitting in front of a fireplace.

Just by adding an area rug you can change the entire look of a room. If you have a large family room but have the children's toys pushed to one side, add two different area rugs in the room. Add a brightly colored children friendly rug in their side and a great styled area rug on the television side to break the room up. If you are someone who is renting a space, many landlords won't let you decorate the walls so why not add an area rug. It doesn't do any damage to the existing addition and can move with you.

An area rug will also make a room safer. If you have a rug down it will give the area a bit of cushion, in case of slips and falls. This would be great for a home where little kids live, or even seniors. It could stop a broken bone from happening, or under furniture on a hardwood floor, to stop it from sliding when someone sits down.

More than just adding color or design to a room, the area rug has some great benefits. They can be used in many ways to create a unique living area, stopping injuries from a person falling, or even to reduce that noise in your house. Pick out one that matches your personality.

All my clients of my San Diego kitchen designs service I make sure has a good idea of how they want it done. Of course with the design tips, we help. But overall there is definitely a plan in place to really make sure all the upgrades definitely look great together.
The very first thing you have to consider doing is your cabinets. This is so important to making your kitchen look great. The major reason why it makes the kitchen look great is simply because you see it the very moment you walk in. It makes a huge impact when you walk into a kitchen when kitchen cabinets are at eye level. That is why the cabinets are the first thing I have people choose in my kitchen cabinets San Diego company.
The next good thing you need to consider doing is the counter tops. This is another big part of the kitchen especially if you have a big counter. A nicely upgraded counter top definitely makes a great and perfect impression in the kitchen. It gives the kitchen a real nice high end look. It is a very popular upgrade in my Encinitas kitchen remodeling service.
As you can see, when upgrading your home kitchen there are certainly a couple of main areas you need to upgrade. If you take care of those areas your kitchen should come out looking great.
Don't forget attention to decorating your remodeled kitchen as well with a beautiful contemporary or traditional suitable area rug or mat. All washable and easy care area rugs may be suitable for a high style decor in your kitchen, including new outdoor rugs, indoor outdoor rugs, synthetic yarn shag rugs or bamboo rugs.

Area Rugs Home Decorating Choices

Choosing area rugs to suit your taste, no matter how eccentric or finicky it is, is a real breeze. The selections ranging from traditional to modern designs, subtle to loud colors, intricate to conspicuous patterns, handmade rugs to machine-made ones are vast. If we compare them to a place, area rugs are one big department store. Area rugs are sought-after and very popular choices as home decorations. They are not just mere floor coverings (though it is one of their useful purposes) but pieces that can magically enhance any living space.

There are several different styles and designs to choose from. While it is always best to choose based upon your personal preference, you may also want to consider other things, such as patterns and colors. There are area rugs that look good in just about any setting; however, there are others that would be more suited to a specific design and style quality.

The first thing to consider is size. Always measure the area before you go shopping for a new area rug. This will keep you from buying a beautiful masterpiece that you have fallen in love with, only to find it doesn't quite fit. Taking a few moments to measure now will save you problems later on.

The texture or material is just as important. Several good ones are wool, cotton and bamboo. A tip to bear in mind is the quality and durability of the material. Even if you intend to change your rug every week or so, a strong fabric guarantees longevity. If you want to go back to the old design, you can always fish it out of the box and lay it on the floor, as new looking and attractive as the first time.

Survey your room and take into account the furnishings before going out and getting an area rug. The rug's design and color should complement the entire room. You can decorate all the rooms in your house with one - bedroom, living area, bathroom, kitchen, hallway, porch, patio and family room. No space should be exempted from the benefits area rugs bring. Just make sure the area rug and the rest of the room will blend well.

It may be surprising to know that a printed, colorful area rug is more flexible than a solid-colored rug. The existing shades in a colorful rug match the colors found in the room. It may not be the exact same shade, but a version, may it be lighter or darker of a similar color can still have an impact on the over-all look.

Believe me, shopping for an area rug is never boring. With all the designs, colors, styles and fabrics, you'll never get the same look repeatedly. Your room will always look brand new with every change of an area rug. Go ahead and fill your heart's desires with the best area rugs in town!

Southwestern Design with Cowhide Rugs For Your Living Room

When we think of the Southwest most of us think of desert, cactus and wide open space. When we decorate for Southwestern flavor, it is the colors of the Southwest that become important. The colors of nature abound in the Southwest. Blending into nature's palette are the colors and design associated with the Native Americans indigenous to this area.

The colors can be anywhere from the neutral shades of the desert sand to the turquoise hue of the sky. There's also the richness of orange, yellow, red and green. The contrasting shade of the green cactus amidst the Southwest desert is striking, perfect for creating an equally impressive home interior - shades of green decors in a sand-painted room.

Should you opt for neutral, sand colored walls you will want to select furniture and accent pieces that stand out with plenty of color. Southwest flair is well known as laid back, bright, comfortable and extremely welcoming so you will want to capture this feeling with your selections. For instance, with neutral walls you can go with a brightly colored couch covered pillows to complement the color scheme. If the couch is patterned and multi-colored the pillows should be solid colored and be similar in tone to the wall color in order to "tie it all in".

If your walls are painted in bright colors, your couch and chairs should be of more subdued, perhaps even neutral tones to break up the cacophony of color. In this situation wood is a very good choice to complement the bright colors; dark woods are especially good for setting a Southwest scene. For accent pieces, ivory and turquoise is perfect with bright colors.

Decorating with authentic Southwestern accessories is the best way to enhance the theme. You don't have to look too far with area rugs around. There are Southwestern area rugs that were weaved, some by hand, by Native Americans. The designs and patterns were mostly handed down from one generation to the next. A large Native American rug will look amazing as a room's centerpiece.

Whether you choose the room rugs first and design the room around the rug, or design the room and choose rugs to complete the aura of the room, look for Southwestern rugs handmade by Native Americans. You will be able to find all sizes of rugs from small to large. Native American rugs are works of art; they may tell a story or depict history or maybe they will include Kokopelli, horses, buffalo and other images of importance in their lives. Your Southwestern decor will simply not be complete without a Native American handmade woolen rug.

There is no more comfortable, welcoming living room that one with a Southwest flavor. One exciting option is a natural cowhide or cowhide area rug which are typically associated with Southwest decor.

Design and Area Rugs Tips for the Bedroom

Many people spend a great deal of time decorating the rooms in their house that they use the most or the ones that other people may see the most frequently . This usually includes the living room and family room and maybe the dining room and kitchen. Many people do not realize how much time they spend in their bedrooms and that is usually the room that is not decorated. This article will offer how to transform three different kinds of bedrooms into wonderful places to rest your head by making a boring master bedroom into a romantic retreat using a chandelier light fixture or chandelier light fixtures and other touches, a home office into a special nursery for a new baby, and a small boys room into a much cooler teenage boys room.
The first to change is the master bedroom. Too frequently a couple just uses their bedroom as a catch all for all of the stuff that they don't know where to put . It is time to eliminate all that clutter and change that space into a romantic relaxing room . Paint the walls in a tranquil color such as a sage green or a warm taupe then replace the gaudy ceiling fan with a gorgeous chandelier to add a touch of elegance. Purchase new coordinated bedding that compliments the soothing wall color and create a canopy using fabric attaching it to the ceiling making your bed feel like a canopy bed. This use of fabric makes the bed the main focus of the room giving a very romantic touch.
The next room to transform is your home office into the baby's nursery. If you still need the space for your office needs, consider buying an office armoire that can close up and hide all of your office things and then you can still keep it in the same space. Decorating a baby's nursery is a very personal one and with so many couples finding out the sex of their baby ahead of time, it no longer has to be the neutral green or yellow palette. A lot of people like to select a theme for their baby's room but do not go overboard as too many themed items may appear tacky. Remember to have the crib safe by not putting in too much soft bedding or pillows and family photographs are a nice way to personalize the nursery .
You decorated your boys bedroom when he was in preschool and now he is almost 13 and has outgrown this small boy space. Try to decorate this room to last all through his teen years without a theme that he could tire of . Ask him his favorite colors and try to compliment them in the wall color and bedding. He may want\wish for a larger bed too rather than a small twin.
So get to work changing those bedrooms into something special. Simple paint, and some decorative accents and new bedding can make a room feel completely different.
The most dramatic addition to any bedroom can be an exciting area rug: for the master bedroom a sheepskin rug or faux fur rug is cozy and enduring; other bedrooms may benefit from a traditional braided rug or shag rug; the child's room is augmented with animal print rugs, or even high style all wool kids rugs.

Southwestern and Exotic Decor with Cowhide Rugs

Decorating your home is of significance to give a touch of beauty, comfort and elegance to your house. In addition to furniture, flooring, wall colors with wallpapers and painting, area rugs are also the essential aspects to upgrade the overall look of the house. In recent times, animal print rugs have gained importance as they create visual and aesthetic impact on the room. According to personal choice and home decor, people select rugs from a wide range of options like flokati rugs, braided rugs, cowhide rugs and sheepskin rugs in addition to jute, sisal and bamboo. Animal print cowhide rugs even come in prints of tiger, leopard, zebra, giraffe and cheetah.

Cowhide rugs are proven to give you a delight of reliability and quality. In terms of reliability, it is believed that durable and chromium tanned natural cowhides can last for lifetime. You will never experience the shedding off of fur. Moreover, this kind of rug is considered to be much more exotic in comparison to synthetic rugs. Talking about the quality, these rugs and their fur are unique and exceptional from each other. The by-products of cattle are the main source of cowhide leather and they are after-market products of the cattle industry.

Thus, no two rugs can be similar. The manufacturers consider the conventional hair or hide tanning technique to be of paramount necessity to deliver a soft, luxurious, less order and molting hair-on-hides. The high quality is achieved from the prominent cow breeding countries such as Brazil and Argentina, and also chromium tanning. They are available in various sizes to meet the demands of each customer. Plus, an array of shades, designs and patterns is one more highlight of these rugs. People can use custom cowhides to make carpets, cushions throws, upholstery and accessories.

Dark, medium and light brindle, brown-white and black-white cloud, brown-white and black-white salt & pepper, brown-white Hereford, black-brown-white tricolor exotic are some of the colors and patterns that are available. In order to maintain authenticity, some come with scars and even insect bites. Natural cowhides and cowhide leather are sure to ensure to add style, luxury and sophistication and augment the looks of the home interiors. People can easily keep them clean by brushing or cleaning with something like woolite, cold water, and mere air drying. These are a standard decor item for western or southwestern home decor.

Coming to the price, they are priced a lot higher as compared to other rugs. Therefore, it is advisable to check out various reputable rug stores for purchasing a cowhide rug. It is also important to make sure you are getting the best quality, and that is a chromium tanned Brazilian cowhide. Hides from Argentina are somewhat lower quality but still high enough quality for the home. Non-Chromium tanned hides may tend to shed and deteriorate quickly over time. There are many online shops that sell rugs at a price to fit any budget for addressing a special room decorating challenge, such as Hollywood Love Rugs who specialize in exotic hides, skins and in particular highest quality cowhides. Now you have the best solution to adorn your home. So get set to revolutionize the dull looking part of your house into a celebration of our southwestern heritage and décor.

Sheepskin Rugs Quality Considerations

While sheepskin rugs are beautiful and luxurious additions to any home decor, most of our customers are confused about quality considerations. At Hollywood Love Rugs, we carry the two accepted types of high end quality sheepskin rugs, and those are sheepskin rugs from Australia and sheepskin rugs from New Zealand, specifically from Bowron Sheepskin New Zealand. One might logically ask what the difference is, and why these are considered the premiere sheepskin pelts worldwide and highly prized for home decor purposes.

In the early 19th century when other countries were concentrating on sheep for food production, Australian ranchers were striving to upgrade their Merino sheep’s wool quality. They imported four basic strains of sheep: Peppin, Saxon, Spanish, and French. The resulting crossbred wool, known as “Australian Merino,” now commands a premium price on the world markets. Australian skins have exceptional characteristics: dense fleece, fine fiber quality, natural luster, recoil, and durability.

Bowron New Zealand started in 1881 by the Bowron brothers, has flourished as a family tradition of excellence in lambskin tanning. Their commitment to quality has continued and over 100 years later, the team at Bowron continue to make the name "Bowron" synonymous with the world's finest sheepskin products. To this day, every Bowron sheepskin is the perfect result of the same methods pioneered in the 1880's by the Bowron brothers from Yorkshire. Their unique 42 step tanning method has been constantly refined and now sits at the heart of the Bowron Sheepskin story. The Bowron laboratory designs and proves processes that meet the health and safety, and New Zealand environmental standards. Traditionally the making of sheepskins was done at a cost to the environment with heavy water and chemical use. Today the Bowron closed loop process, cutting edge chemistry and advanced mechanical technology enable us to preserve the natural beauty of our sheepskins with minimal inputs and an ever-reducing impact on the environment.

Both Australian sheepskins and Bowron Sheepskins are exceptionally high quality, and constitute major industries in their respective countries. As a rule, Bowron tends to sheer their lambskins, which make them a bit shorter in pile but as it trims the normal off-color tips they tend to be a bit whiter. Australian lambskins are not shorn as a rule, and will be a bit thicker but may not be as white in appearance along the tops. Both are available in dyed colors as well as brown tipped varieties. Both quality products appeal to slightly different tastes.

HOW ABOUT OTHER COUNTRIES?

Domestic (U.S.A.) sheep are raised throughout the western United States and sold at auction. The buyer does not know what breed their sheepskins are and quality varies widely from breed to breed. The pelts are large—that’s good. But the wool texture is coarse and unattractive—that’s bad. The U.S. tanneries, therefore, “moutonize” domestic sheepskin—a process whereby the wool fibers are ironed straight and chemicals added to create “luster.” Springiness is lost, matting occurs almost immediately, and excessive moisture will damage the chemical finish. South American sheepskins are usually less expensive, but the quality is marginal. The wool fiber is too soft and fine for seatcovers. It has little resiliency, the wool crushes and matting occurs. Chinese sheepskin should not be considered. The leather is thin, and the wools very open, and the dyes used are not stable

Sheepskin Rugs, Configuration, Size and Selection

Sheepskin Rugs are beautiful, luxurious and have fabulous qualities for the healthy support of the human body and so are terrific for that lounging family area of your home. But natural sheepskin pelt rugs come in a variety of configurations which often customers to not quite understand.

A single pelt sheepskin rug of course is just one lambskin pelt. This is approximately 2' x 3' in size. A double pelt sheepskin rug is two single pelts sewn together, end to end, which is approximately 2' x 6'. These are perfect for in front of the bedroom closet or alongside one's bed. Today there is a growing popularity in a triple pelt sheepskin rug, which is three pelts sewn together side by side producing a very nice size sheepskin rug of about 3' x 5 1/2'.

Also popular are the quad, sexto and octo sheepskin rug, for larger spaces and really significant lounging pads. These are great for doing yoga on, or just laying about in front of the fire place. The quad is basically two doubles sewn side by side producing a sheepskin rug of about 4' x 6'. The sexto are three doubles sewn side by side and the octo is exactly two quartos sewn side by side. These larger sheepskin rugs are amazingly beautiful and luxurious and of course, as Hollywood Love Rugs we are happy to take orders for custom sheepskin rugs as well for any size or shape your decor demands.

Cowhide Rugs Diversity in Decor Selection

Natural Cowhides and Cowhide Rugs are very popular as home decor items, being reminiscient of our western and southwestern heritage in America. They come in a large variety of colors and patterns and are all after-market products of the food industry. Hollywood Love Rugs carries a large selection of the finest chromium tanned Brazilian natural cowhides which can be used as cowhide rugs, upholstery leather, or throws. All our brazilian cowhide leather is available as decorative pillows as well.

The most popular design in natural cowhide is the cloud pattern, and that would be the black and white cloud pattern cowhide. This is a classic contrast between black and white with basically even quantities of these two contrasting colors spread throughout the hide in a cloud pattern. Brown and white cloud pattern cowhides are also available. The salt and pepper pattern is also very popular, and that is usually a background of white with a spattering of black, sort of like a painting by Jackson Pollock. Black and white salt and pepper cowhides as well as brown and white are very intrinsic to the traditional southwestern decor.

Probably the most popular brown and white cowhide is the traditional hereford cowhide rug. This is probably the most prevelant and successful cattle breed in the world and is the accepted symbol of the southwest. This is primarily brown but with edges and crown of white. It is easily recognized.

For that decor that demands a more subtle blend of colors, the brindle cowhides are the answer. These have very exotic blending of blacks, browns, whites, and grays in very subtle variations. And the traditional black, white and brown tricolor or exotic cowhide rug stands out for it's traditional recognition quality along with the hereford cowhide. There are of course a few solid color cowhides available as well: black, brown, off-white.

To sum up, popular patterns include solid colors, cloud patterns, salt and pepper patterns, brindle patterns and the hereford and tricolor. Colors include deep black, off-white, various shades of brown, gray and even reddish brown. The possibilities are extravagent and offer a large choice to complement any suitable decor, and especially southwest decor.

Some Tips on Carpet and Area Rugs Care

Nothing like new carpet or large area rug to transform the look of a room. Not to mention the lack of dulling stains and fresh color just lights things up. Of course what follows is the hard part. Keeping it looking that way for as long as you can.
Problem is, before you know it the unavoidable spills, inevitable stains and accumulated dirt and grime will take its toll on your lovely new carpet. That is unless you take the required steps to keep them at bay. To help with that here are some time tested carpet and rug care tips.
For removing ordinary dirt vacuum high traffic areas like halls and entrance ways twice a week. Hit the rest of your carpeting at least once weekly. The idea is to remove dirt before it has a chance to get embedded.
Now when vacuuming you aren't in a race to get done. You want to take it slow. Pushing and pulling the beater brush over the same area up to seven times. Such effort gives the machine time to suck out the embedded dirt. Doing so also helps bring the fibers back to life.
Carpet Care Tip: Where the backing and nylon fibers meet is where carpet is most at risk. That's where the sand and grit wears away the fibers ultimately causing the most damage to your carpeting.
Moving your furniture and changing traffic patterns is a good thing too. It eventually allows you to vacuum every inch of carpet - another good idea.
Spills are another problem. They are best coped with by acting fast to get whatever liquid or almost liquid up and off the carpet before a stain sets in.
Blot not scrub is the word of the day when dealing with any spill. Grabbing white paper towels to absorb liquids or a spatula to slide under thicker spills to lift them off the carpet. Followed by an application of powdered or foam carpet cleaner -- which is smart to keep on hand too.
To remove stains, try applying dry-cleaning fluid or spot-removing solution sold at carpet stores.
Just remember that you treat different stains differently. And you want to test any spot remover in some inconspicuous location just in case it removes the color from your carpet.
The final problem to discuss is crushing. As in crushing the life out of your carpet under the weight of heavy furniture. Carpet casters to the rescue in this case. If you don't like those then at least scoot your furniture a bit to the left or right to spread the wear and tear over more surface area.
Granted nothing can spare your carpet from spills, stains and wear and tear of everyday living. But diligence, regular vacuuming and quick action can minimize the risk of permanent problems that can mar the look of your carpet.
Even with this brief overview of carpet care, you can see the role a good upright or suitable canister vacuum cleaner plays in maintaining your flooring. Be it one of the many Dyson vacuums, a Hoover, or a Eureka even. Grit, hair and dirt must be removed. And a quality vac is the best way to do so.
Area Rugs today come in many styles, colors and designs in very durable, easy care varieties, espeically polypropylene rugs, and area rugs suitable for both indoor and outdoor rugs which are stain resistent and soil resistant and have great durability for high traffic areas.

Exciting Color Red in your Interior Design and Area Rugs

Red is a powerful color. From the fury of red - orange flames to the depth of crimson blood, this color automatically stirs us to action. It excites us, invigorating our metabolism and stirring the warrior spirit deep within our subconscious mind.

Color determines the way a room will feel, and to some extent, the way you will feel in a room. It is the background of life that creates an ambiance against which your actions will occur. By paying attention to color, you can control a powerful and subtle element of any space.

In our primitive past, the color red was often seen in the red blood of the hunt, or at the explosion of a volcano, or the savage thrust of a forest fire. Because of this, our minds evolved to become excited when we see this color. We start moving, we start acting, and we start doing, in furious and passionate ways.

One of the main effects the color red has is that it tends to speed up the metabolism. This has the dual effect of making you hungry, and making your body process food faster. So you will eat more in the presence of red colors, but you will also lose more weight. The weight that you maintain will be determined by the balance that you reach.

Red also has an invigorating effect. It makes people want to take action, now. This can cause you to be impulsive, taking chances, and making decisions rapidly. This makes it easy to wake up in a red bedroom, but difficult to go to sleep in one.

Red is also a violent color. It makes people angry, and combined with its invigorating effect, this can lead to fighting. If you are already argumentative, this may be a color to avoid.

On the other hand, the flip side of hate is love, and red is a passionate romantic color. If you are having trouble heating things up, red may be just the remedy you need.

The bottom line is, that red is a powerful color. Like fire it can help a space, or it can hurt it. The best use of red is as an accent, balanced by more reserved colors. Try placing small, tasteful red objects throughout a space, to invigorate a boring room. Otherwise, use a single red centerpiece to make the focus of a space action and passion.

One way to introduce the exciting color red to your home decor is through vivid colored area rugs. These are available in many colors and styles, including red flokati rugs, red leather shag rugs, and many varieties of contemporary area rugs.
